On March 17, 2023, Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot announced in the Vidhansabha to create 19 new districts and 3 new divisions in the state of Rajasthan. With this, now there will be 50 districts and 10 divisions in the state. A budget of 2000 crore has been given to meet the infrastructure requirements of the new districts. Ramlubhaya Committee was constituted last year to study the proposals for creating new districts. The CM has announced new districts and divisions on the basis of the interim report of this committee. Earlier on January 26, 2008, Pratapgarh was made the 33rd district and on June 4, 2005, Bharatpur was made the 7th division.
