Pre-historic culture of Rajasthan

  • Ahar Civilization (Ahar-Banas Culture):
    • Located near Udaipur along the Ahar River.
    • Characterized by distinctive black-and-red ware pottery.
    • Settlements had mud-brick houses, copper tools, and evidence of agriculture and domesticated animals.
    • Dates to around 2500–1500 BCE.
    • Important sites: Ahar, Gilund, Balathal.
  • Ganeshwar-Jodhpura Culture:
    • Found near the Aravalli hills in Sikar and Jhunjhunu districts.
    • Noted for copper metallurgy, especially copper arrowheads, spearheads, and axes.
    • Associated with red pottery.
    • Dates to around 3000–1500 BCE.
    • Important sites: Ganeshwar, Jodhpura.
