Telecommunication is one of the prime support services needed for rapid growth and modernization of various sectors of the economy. It has become more important in recent years because of the rapid growth of information technology and its significant impact on the economy.
Postal and telecommunication services are instrumental to develop the economy and to provide communication connectivity among various areas, segments and communities in the State. The total number of post offices in the State was 10,311 and telecom subscribers were 64.77 million at the end of March, 2019. The Status of post offices and telecom subscribers in the State for the year 2018 and 2019 are given in table below:
