मानव और प्रकृति में बहुत बड़ी समानता यही है कि जिस प्रकार प्रकृति का शृंगार नए ताज़ा खिले हुए फूलों से ही होता है और वे ही उसके यौवन को सजाते-संवारते हैं, ठीक उसी प्रकार मानव समाज की सजावट भी उसमें विकसित हो रहे नए सोच, आविष्कार, तकनीक से ही हो सकती है। यदि हम पुरानी रूढ़ियों, जीवन-शैलियों और तकनीकों को लेकर उनसे ही चिपके रहेंगे, और क्योंकि वे हमारी अपनी हैं इसलिए हम उन्हें त्याज्य नहीं समझेंगे तो फिर हम प्रकृति- विरुद्ध, विकास-विरुद्ध कार्य करेंगे। परिवर्तन प्रकृति का और मानव समाज का अटल नियम है, हाँ, परिवर्तन के लिए परिवर्तन मानकर बिना सोचे-समझे हर पुरानी चीज़ को त्याग देना और हर नई चीज़ को प्राप्त करने के लिए दौड़ना विवेकशीलता एवं विकासशीलता नहीं है किंतु यह विश्वास रखना ज़रूरी है कि परिवर्तन अवश्यंभावी है और वह नई चीज़ों के द्वारा ही होगा तथा नई चीज़ें पुरानी चीज़ों का स्थान लेकर ही आएँगी। ऐसे स्थिति में पुरानी एवं अप्रासंगिक बनी चीज़ों का मोह छोड़ना ही होगा। भारत में विज्ञान, तकनीक, अर्थव्यवस्था, समाजव्यवस्था में जो तीव्रगति से परिवर्तन हुआ है वह युवा विवेकानंद, गाँधी, नेहरू, सुभाष, भाभा आदि के प्रत्यनों से ही संभव हुआ है।
