Union minister for surface transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, visited Rajasthan yesterday to dedicate the Lalsot-Karauli-Dholpur segment of the NH-11B to the nation. Rajasthan has achieved significant development in getting center’s approval for intra and interstate highways connecting major regions, as reiterated by minister.
New projects in Road Construction:
- Detailed Projects report for projects worth Rs. 1,100 crore’s for multi-lane roads covering 312 kilometers and one connecting Muhana with Hindaun and Mahuha has been approved
- Budget worth Rs. 200 crores sanctioned for construction of bridge over Chambal river, connecting Mandrayal to Sabalgarh. This project was pending since a long time, but now centre has agreed to fund it.
- Road connecting Sawai Madhopur  and Agra has been declared as national highway.
Kandala-Jalore-Jodhpur Canal to Perennial Water Problem:
To end the state’s perennial water problems,  Centre was working on a project to build a canal to bring sea water from Gujarat to Rajasthan. The project is currently in the preliminary stage. If it becomes a reality, it can end the water woes of Rajasthan and meet both drinking and farming needs.
Tentative length of Canal is going to be 800 kms.
Union Ministry of surface transport and highways has promised that investment in Rajasthan would reach Rs 1 lakh for these projects.
