Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan

The Bassi wildlife sanctuary derives its name from the historical Bassi town, situated near the sanctuary. It was declared as wildlife sanctuary in 1988 and is spread across 150 square kms on the western border of Vindhyachal Mountain Ranges.

Bassi WLS – Wildlife:

Antelope, wild boar, panther, jackal, hyena, nilgai, mongoose and migratory birds inhabit the sanctuary. Birdwatchers can spot and observe several birds like the Peacocks, Pigeons, Peafowls, Saras Cranes, Blue Bull, Lesser Whistling Duck, Cuckoo, Hawks, Eagles, Storks, etc. The forest is dry deciduous and has trees like the Dhok, Churel, Butea along with a variety of medicinal herbs and flowering plants.
