The Youth of India Is always confused about what to pursue after the 12th standard education. Most of them choose engineering and write entrance examinations such as IIT JEE Mains, and various national and State Level Examinations hoping to become an engineer one day. But what the youth in India is not aware of is the diversified career options in India. Why is it that the students in India is scared to go beyond the regulars, why is our society unsupportive to the changes? These two questions have to be dealt with utmost seriousness as it is the factor that is holding back the growth of our country, The India. Another major career option in India is MBBS and the most competitive exam NEET has to be tackled down to be a doctor Indeed.
But the trend is changing recently, the number of test takers and candidates choosing engineering has decreased exponentially. Unemployment is the culprit, but actually what leads to unemployment even when India is dependent over 70% of engineering services. This data clearly indicates something is not right about our education system in India at least for engineering graduates. We have different boards of education system in India for Lower Primary, Senior and Higher Secondary education in India, be it CBSE, ICSE or any other state syllabuses. One common thing and the main advantage of such system is that a student studying under CBSE for 12th studies the same subjects and syllabus across the country.
Is that the same scenario? For engineering studies in India. There are 100s or even 1000s of engineering colleges in every look and corner of India, all affiliated under different universities, and unfortunately, the syllabus and subjects followed by them varies. This is the main problem with the system, this creates a major unbalance in the knowledge gained by the engineers in India. What the companies seek for in a fresher is not visible. A practical oriented approach is what is lacking in the system. Most of the engineering graduates would agree upon to the fact that what they learned is all textual and they don’t even know how to apply them in real life.
Never judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, the same applies to the students in India. Our system relies on testing a student’s memory power rather than their conceptual knowledge and our system is completely biased towards that. What we need is a revolution, a greater reformation in the system. When our system provides scholarship based on equality, equity is what is really needed and it is the only thing that will create a balance in the system.
Change happens within ourselves, it begins from our home, a building is made of numerous small elements, likewise a change for greater cause begins from the shortest spark which lies within you, all you need to do is nurture it, feed it with enough thoughts and courage, it is what education is, it is what freedom is, it is what knowledge is.
