Van Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary Dholpur

Van Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary, sprawled over an area of 25.6 square kms, was notified as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1955. The sanctuary is on Vindhyan plateau, supports a rather open stunted growth of Dhok and Khair trees. 

Wildlife of Van Vihar WLS:

Tigers were present in the area till the end of the nineteen sixties. This Sanctuary is famous for animals like the Sambhar, Nilgai, Chital and Leopards. Along with the mammals the sanctuary also has more than 200 species of birds, and 60 species of butterflies.
